Southern Optometry Sdn Bhd Timeline
1985- Jalan Tengku Kelana, Klang
Southern Optometry Sdn Bhd was established by our founder, Mr Wong Hean Chor. The practise was located in Jalan Tengku Kelana, Klang Little India.
1986- Tanah Merah, Kelantan
First branch was opened in Tanah Merah, Kelantan. Mr Wong Kwai Cho, younger brother of Mr Wong Hean Chor, is the person in charge. He is an optician with over 40 years of experience. He managed to expand the business by opening branches throughout Kelantan, first in Gua Musang, followed by Pasih Putih.
1997- Taman Rasnah, Klang
Second branch was opened in Taman Rasnah, Klang. Ms Wong Yah Yuan, first daughter of Mr Wong Hean Chor, who graduated from Philippines as an Optometrist practising in this branch. She is register under Majlis Optik Malaysia and certified to prescribed glasses and contact lenses.
2000- Teluk Panglima Garang
Third branch was opened in Teluk Panglima Garang, near Banting. Ms Wong Yah Lai, second daughter of Mr Wong Hean Chor, who graduated from Philippines as an Optometrist practising in this branch. She is register under Majlis Optik Malaysia and certified to prescribed glasses and contact lenses.
2000- Jalan Istana, Klang
Our main branch in Jalan Tengku Kelana relocated to Jalan Istana. The practice was refurbished with latest equipment for eye test. We can screen for eye diseases such as cataract, dry eye, keratoconus and so on. There is amble of parking in front of the shop too.
2013- Jalan Istana, Klang
Mr Wong Kin Yip, youngest son of Mr Wong Hean Chor, graduated as an optometrist in Australia and return to practice here. He has a special interest in children short-sighted control and established a ‘Myopia Control Clinic’. He is register under Majlis Optik Malaysia and AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency). He is still actively attending courses in Australia to bring back the latest treatments and solutions.
